About the Actual Vehicle
The Dakar Rally was first organized in 1978 by Frenchman Thierry Sabine. Originally known as the Paris-Dakar Rally, the event developed primarily across the African continent. Competitors race through deserts and rugged, uncharted terrain, requiring specially modified and reinforced vehicles capable of withstanding extreme conditions. These vehicles are purpose-built machines designed specifically for the Dakar Rally.
Japan's Hino Motors began competing in the truck category in 1991. For the 2025 event, held in Saudi Arabia from January 3 to 17, the company entered a racing truck based on the diesel-powered HINO 600 Series.
The truck was equipped with an 8.866-liter, direct-injection, turbocharged inline-six diesel engine and a full-time four-wheel-drive system.
Led by Teruhito Sugawara, HINO TEAM SUGAWARA successfully completed the rally in 13th place in the truck category, with a three-member crew consisting of Teruhito Sugawara, Hirokazu Somemiya, and Yuji Mochizuki.

This is a 1/43 scale, fully assembled and pre-painted model of the HINO 600 Series No. 607, which finished 13th in the truck category at the 2025 Dakar Rally.
Measuring approximately 6.30 inches (16 cm) in length and 2.36 inches (6 cm) in width, the model faithfully reproduces not only the distinctive styling of the racing truck but also mechanical details such as the chassis and suspension.
The body accurately recreates the original vehicle's color scheme and sponsor logos. The carp streamer mascot attached to the body, an essential feature of HINO TEAM SUGAWARA's racing truck, is also reproduced as a separate part.
The underside of the vehicle features a detailed ladder frame, four-wheel-drive shafts transmitting power to the front and rear axles, and a realistically modeled suspension system. These details capture the rugged character of the actual racing truck.
The model also comes in window display packaging, allowing the contents to be viewed without opening the box.
