Yoshimin staff's impression of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX

One of the most anticipated titles this season has to be Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX—no doubt about it! It seems like it's a co-production between Studio Khara and Sunrise, and a lot of the Evangelion staff are involved as well.

As of now, the first two episodes have been released. Unlike episode 1, episode 2 focuses mainly on Char—and wow, he talks a lot to himself. 😅 It’s clear the monologues are meant to help explain the situation, but in Japan, it's become a big topic of discussion: “Dang, he's really just monologuing the whole time!” Some say it might’ve worked better as a dialogue with another character.

While episode 1 was all about Machu’s introduction, episode 2 could pretty much be called Char’s showcase. It’s packed with that classic First Gundam essence. The combination of retro-style costumes from the original series and modern visual technology gives it this amazing blend of nostalgia and coolness—it really hits that sweet spot for longtime fans. ✨(≧▽≦)🚀🛡️

You can even spot Hideaki Anno’s name—the director of Evangelion—in the script credits. That alone is enough to get any fan hyped! I’m really looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds from here. It’s definitely shaping up to be something special! (☆ω☆)✨📺

Series Overview
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the latest entry in the Gundam franchise, co-produced by Studio Khara and Sunrise. The theatrical release "-Beginning-" premiered on January 17, 2025, followed by a TV broadcast starting April 9, 2025, on the Nippon TV network. It is also available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Set in a space colony, the story follows Amate Yuzuriha (aka Machu), a high school girl who meets a war refugee named Nyaan and gets swept into the illegal mobile suit battle sport known as Clan Battle.
